CP Energy is led by a group of energy industry veterans, with more than a century of combined experience. Our best-in-class team has significant industry and market knowledge and long-standing relationships with producers, marketers, refiners and other stakeholders across the oil and gas supply chain. The CP Energy team has a proven track record of operating our marketing, transport and logistics business in a safe and reliable manner and our ongoing mission is to provide a comprehensive suite of midstream services to our customers to help them be successful.

Each CP Energy team member brings a diverse background to the company, having worked for major and independent oil and gas companies, midstream companies, public refinery companies, service companies and asset management and financial firms. Our goal is to build a premier midstream services firm, continually focused on creating value for our customers, by applying our experience, knowledge and capabilities. Working together, we source and evaluate opportunities, then work closely with our customers to implement them, providing exactly what the customer needs from our suite of services. Being able to buy, sell and transport the commodity, combined with the ability to build, own and operate necessary physical infrastructure, allows CP Energy to do more for our customers.

John Caldwell

President and Chief Operating Officer

John provides leadership for CP Energy’s commercial activities, including crude oil marketing and transportation operations. John brings 25+ years’ experience in crude oil marketing and business development to CP Energy, joining the team in March 2018. Most recently, John served as Vice President – Crude Marketing and Business Development for Rose Rock Midstream / SemGroup. John’s resume also includes progressing leadership responsibilities with organizations such as Chesapeake Energy Marketing (2011-16), Texon (2008-11), Teppco Crude Oil (2006-08), and BP/Amoco (1990-2006). John earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and computer science from Oklahoma State University.

Adam Klunzinger

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Adam joined CP Energy in March 2018 with financial and accounting responsibilities for the company, including operations and corporate accounting, financial reporting and analysis, and cash management. Prior to CP Energy, Adam served as Controller with Tall Oak Midstream from 2014-2018. From 2009-2014, he held various accounting and financial positions with Sandridge Energy in Oklahoma City. Adam, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a MBA from the University of Central Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Anderson University.

Rodney Landes

Senior Vice President – Crude Oil Marketing

Rodney joined CP Energy in March 2019 and leads the company’s crude oil marketing. Bringing 18 years of experience in crude oil supply and trading, Rodney most recently spent 10 years with Devon Energy as Manager for Crude Oil and NGL Marketing. He also worked for Murphy Oil USA. Rodney began his career as a Chemical and Environmental Engineer after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas with a BS in Chemical Engineering.

David Clemens

Vice President – Transportation

David joined CP Energy in April 2016 and was named Vice President of Transportation in March 2017. David brings more than 30 years of hands-on, Midcontinent crude hauling and trucking experience to CP Energy. He started his career as an engine mechanic immediately out of high school in the Texas Panhandle. Prior to joining CP Energy, David managed crude hauling operations for Rose Rock Midstream Field Services and its predecessor, Barcas Field Services. David’s also held positions at Blueknight Energy Partners, Mission Petroleum Carriers and Petro Source Partners.

Ryan Dahle

Vice President – Crude Oil Marketing (Permian)

Ryan was named Vice President – Crude Oil Marketing in February 2020 to provide leadership for the Company’s crude oil commercial activity in the Permian Basin region, including West Texas and East New Mexico. Ryan joined CP Energy’s predecessor, Texoma Transportation, in 2012 holding various positions within the operations and marketing divisions. He most recently served as Senior Director – Crude Oil Marketing for almost 6 years. Before CP Energy, Ryan was Director of Operations for Alan Ritchey’s Oilfield Service Division, managing over 200 trucks & 240+ drivers in multiple basins. Ryan holds a B.B.A in Finance from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Kyle Essmiller

Vice President – Administration

Kyle joined CP Energy in 2015 bringing more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry to the company. Prior to joining CP Energy, he served as director of human resources for PostRock Energy and as employee relations manager for Chaparral Energy, both in Oklahoma City. From 1995 to 2009, Kyle held various leadership and organizational development positions within the finance group at Chesapeake Energy Corporation. He began his professional career in 1991 with Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas. Kyle holds a MBA in leadership and organizational development from Oklahoma Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Kansas State University. He is certified as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) and senior certified professional by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP).
